# What is the SEPA area?

[SEPA](https://www.ecb.europa.eu/paym/retail/sepa/html/index.en.html#countries) (Single Euro Payment Area) is a geographic area that includes 41 European countries (both with and without the euro as their official currency). Within this area, companies and other entities can make and receive euro payments with the same rights and obligations.
