# easypay solution for Multibanco References

easypay Multibanco References are used for payments such as invoices, online payments, and donations. You can issue Multibanco References with different features, tailored to your business needs.

Each Multibanco Reference is made up of 3 fields:

- Entity
- Reference
- Amount

**Advantages:**

- The most widely used payment method in Portugal: accept Multibanco References with easypay, the preferred method for Portuguese customers
- Now with automatic refunds: issue references that allow refunds without bank transfers or IBANs
- Choose the right reference for your business: use references with check digits, expiration dates, or file-based generation — simple and secure
- Real-time management and automation: receive notifications, identify payments, and streamline processes via API, email, or Backoffice

**Which type is most suitable for your business?**

- **Reference with check digit:** a 9-digit reference automatically validated in the Multibanco system to ensure correct and secure payments. No expiration date, reusable — ideal for commerce, donations, or memberships
- **Reference with refund option:** now you can enable automatic refunds with Multibanco References — no manual transfers or IBANs. Simplify management and improve customer experience
- **Reference with check digit and expiration date:** works like a check-digit reference but includes a validity date. After that date, payment is no longer accepted. Ideal for bookings, campaigns, or invoices with deadlines
